
Founder & Executive Director, Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR)
Paul Kovacs is widely known and respected in the industry as the founder and executive director of the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR), and past president and CEO of the Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation (PACICC). Paul is also an Adjunct Research Professor, Economics, at the University of Western Ontario, and contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 1996. The Panel won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change.” Paul has written three of the Institute’s research reports in the Emerging Issues Research Series – on the sharing economy (2017), automated vehicles (2016) and cyber risks (2015) – and is currently working on the fourth on climate risks and opportunities, which will be available in early 2020.
